Reference standard thickness for bone plates of upper teeth: an ultra-high-resolution study using tomographic mapping

Objective: it is important to know the thicknesses of alveolar bone plates (ABPs) based on current literaturefor planning and success orthodontic treatment. However, studies have scientific limitations regarding ABPsas image resolution not adequate restricted a few teeth or buccal face only. This study was aimedat reporting reference standard for upper teeth, in which 15 patients (mean age 21.79 years)with balanced occlusion harmonious facial profile were evaluated using cone-beam computed tomographyat voxel size 0.1 mm. Material Methods: tissues cervical, middle, apical thirds theroot (buccal palatal), distance between cement-enamel junction (CEJ) crest (ABC),and inclination palatal plane evaluated. Paired t-test, Spearman’s correlation tests, andlinear regression tests used (P < 0.05). Results: CEJ ABC greaterthan one all pairs teeth. Most had thickness <- 1 mm face,whereas cervical-apical direction, -> 2 There no equivalence gendersin sample. Conclusion: reduced architecture around first premolars indicative oflocal gingival recessions, lack gender uniformity suggestive individual evaluation.
